This short post is not about photography – in fact, this is not one of my best images. But it is part of my story.
My daughter loves animals: cats, dogs, bunnies… you get the point. She also adores little creatures, like rollie pollies, earthworms, caterpillars, and the list just goes on. Time after time she comes home from school with a “rescued” animal that she wants to take care of. The last one was a ladybug. We own a Insect Lore Ladybug Land habitat, which became the insect’s new home – at least temporarily.
Luckily, I was able to convince my daughter to place the ladybug on our very young lemon tree. I had found some mealybugs on the tree a few days earlier, and after a bit of research we found out, that ladybugs eat them. We gave it a shot, and placed the bug on the tree. To our biggest surprise, the ladybug stuck around for two days before it moved on from our garden.
Keeping the bug made my daughter happy. The pests on the tree made the ladybug happy. Seeing the smile on my daughter’s face and getting rid of these pests made me happy. I hope you also have tiny things in your life that make you and your family happy.
